ஹஸ்தங்கைள இரண்டாக பாகுபாடு செய்யலாம்.ஒன்று அபிநயக்கை,மற்றொன்று நிருத்தக்கை.அபிநயக்கை மேலும் இரண்டாக பிரியும் ஒன்று அஸம்யுத ஹஸ்தம்( ஒற்றைக்கை முத்திரை) மற்றொன்று ஸம்யுத ஹஸ்தம்( இரட்டைக்கை முத்திரை)

one of the most striking aspects of an Indian classical dance is the use of hand gestures, also known as hasta mudra.in order to convey the meaning of what a dancer is performing, hand gestures are a significant facial expressions.however, there are also Nritta mudras, that are employed for the sake of beauty and decorative purpose while performing Nritta.so vast is the hand gestures that it cover almost all the aspects of human life and the entire universe.there are hand gestures for every single thing in this universe.some are performing with a single hand while some may require the use of both hands.hence mudras bring unique poetic element while performing abhinaya (expression) and thus the language of the mudras enables the dancer to express practically anything and everything.
mudras are basically of two types -
Asamyukta Hastas (or Asamyuta hasta - single hand gestures)
Samyukta Hastas (or Samyuta hastas - double hand gestures)
